Grant OpportunitiesBring Kawambe-Omowale to your school or community! Most state and city municipalities offer funding for schools and school districts, universities, faith-based groups, clubs, community centers and other non-profit organizations that wish to bring art and cultural programs to their students or community. The following is a list (in alphabetical order) of various art and cultural organizations within the metropolitan Phoenix and Tucson areas that offer grants to support the arts. These same organizations will also provide technical assistance to organizations completing their applications. Consult the website of the organization of your choice for grant details and submission deadlines (link is at the end of each paragraph).
Don't miss the submission deadline! Arizona Commission on the Arts (ACA): Deadline mid-March 2007 (for 2007-08) The Commission provides project and administrative grants to community organizations, schools and school districts. Project and administrative grants support art activities in urban centers and rural communities, preserve the rich traditions of Arizona’s ethnic communities, encourage participation in the arts by people with disabilities and by citizens of all ages, and support strengthened professional artistic and administrative skills of Arizona’s arts organizations. Glendale Arts Commission Performing Arts Granting Program: Deadline late March 2007 (for 2007-08) The Glendale Arts Commission Performing Arts Granting Program was developed to motivate, increase and support the performing arts in the City of Glendale. The Arts Commission awards grants up to $2,500 for projects in the fields of theater, dance and music. To be considered for this granting program, the applicant must reside in or work in partnership with an organization domiciled within the city limits of Glendale. City of Mesa Arts and Cultural Community Aid Grants and Mini-Grants: No funds for 2007-08 season The City of Mesa will not be funding the Community Aid Grants program for the 2007-08 season. Peoria Arts Commission Arts Grant Program: Deadline April 2007 (for 2007-08) The Peoria Arts Commission is pleased to introduce its Arts Grant Program. This program was developed to motivate, increase and support the arts in the City of Peoria. The Peoria Arts Commission will be awarding grants in the fields of visual arts, theater, dance, music, and special cultural events. Phoenix Office of Arts and Culture (POAC): Deadline February 20, 2007 (for 2007-08) Non-profit organizations involved in the arts are critical to Phoenix's arts community. Whether your organization is a large arts institution offering the arts to our city and region, a school committed to teaching and learning through the arts, or a neighborhood center providing a place for young people to experience their own artistic achievement, your presence is vital to Phoenix. The POAC's Grants Program is dedicated to supporting non-profit organizations and schools working with artists and the arts. Scottsdale Cultural Council Community Arts Grant Programs: Deadline Spring 2007 (for 2007-08) The Scottsdale Cultural Council's Community Arts Grants Program provides funding for Scottsdale-based arts and cultural organizations as well as to Valley arts organizations for projects that take place in the Scottsdale community to promote long-term growth in Scottsdale's arts community and to meet short-term funding needs. An updated application for the 2007-08 funding cycle will be available during the spring of 2007. City of Tempe Cultural Services Arts Project Grant: Deadline March 2007 (for 2007-08) Grants for non profit organizations and schools are available to assist in funding projects that serve Tempe residents in the following ways: by improving the cultural life of the Tempe community being served by the project; by serving Tempe youth and special populations; and by offering culturally diverse programming to Tempe residents. Mini-grants are also available with an on-going deadline that is six to eight weeks before the event/project. Tucson/Pima Arts Council Grant Program: Deadline March 22, 2007 (for 2007-08) Grants are awarded in dance, theater, music, literary, visual, multi-disciplinary, festivals and arts in education categories. Grant funds are available to nonprofit arts and social service organizations on a matching basis for arts programs and/or services for the citizens of Tucson and Pima County.
